Merlot

Merlot

Details

In France, Merlot is the most common grape variety and produces exceptional wines in the Bordeaux region. Its adaptability to climate and soil conditions, combined with its earlier ripening, contribute to the success of this small- and loose-berried grape variety, which has spread around the globe and produces exceptional results, especially in Italy. Smoother than Cabernet Sauvignon, with less tannin and acidity, it is often used as a cuvée partner, but also very often vinified as a single variety. Merlot thrives above all in warm locations on deep, loamy soils and produces fruity, full-bodied wines with southern charm and soft, harmonious tannins at a high level of maturity.
