Bodega Mustiguillo

Details

Bodega Mustiguillo is situated on the El Terrerazo plateau near Utiel and is considered a pioneer in quality wine production in the Valencia region. The winery was founded in 1999 by Toni Sarrión with the aim of redefining the potential of the indigenous Bobal grape variety. To this end, he restored an old estate along with its underground cellar, which provides constant temperature and humidity conditions throughout the year. From the outset, Mustiguillo has consistently pursued sustainable viticulture, producing characterful wines with expression and depth. All wines have been organically certified since 2007. The vineyards are located at approximately 800 meters above sea level and benefit from significant temperature differences between day and night, imparting freshness and structure to the wines. In increasingly warmer vintages, yields are deliberately reduced to ensure balanced grape quality. Mustiguillo owns El Terrerazo, the first recognized DOP "Vino de Pago" in the Valencia region, covering 87 hectares. Additionally, the winery manages the 19-hectare Finca Calvestra in Requena, where the white Merseguera grape variety is cultivated at an altitude of 900 meters. The wines produced there are marketed as Vinos de España. With its uncompromising commitment to quality and the revival of indigenous grape varieties like Bobal and Merseguera, Mustiguillo has firmly established the Valencia region on the international wine map.
