Château Pape-Clément

Details

Château Pape-Clément is a vineyard of truly historical significance. The vineyard was first planted with vines in the 13th century by Bertrand de Goth, the youngest son of a local noble family. He became the Archbishop of Bordeaux and, in 1305, was elected Pope with the name Clément V. Until the French Revolution, the estate was managed by the Archbishop of Bordeaux, and thus, it boasts a continuous wine history spanning seven centuries. In 1983, Bernard Magrez, a passionate producer and composer of rare wines, acquired the prestigious Château and devoted all his energy, determination, and substantial resources to improving the already magnificent wines. He now owns 4 Grands Crus Classés in Bordeaux - in addition to Château Pape-Clément, he owns Château La Tour Carnet (Haut Médoc), Château Fombrauge (Saint-Emilion), and Clos Haut Peyraguey (Sauternes). The wines of Pape-Clément are simply impressive: dense, powerful, full-bodied, and long-lasting. Both the red wine and the extremely rare white wine are undoubtedly among the best wines in the world.
