The Nals Margreid Winery’s vineyards cover 370 acres of land in Alto Adige, reaching from Nals to Margreid. In 13 different winegrowing areas, each of the wines find its ideal climatic environment and optimal soil conditions. The main ridge of the Alps protects the region from harsh northern disturbances and induces a balanced climate. Mediterranean influences, an average of 300 sunny days a year, and considerable differences in temperature between day and night create an excellent climatic environment for the growth of the grape varieties. Moreover, the rich geological history of the area has bestowed the vineyards with diverse soils: chalky scree, sandy riverbeds and glacial outwash drifts mixed with primitive rock offer the ideal breeding grounds for each of the vines.
